	this song is just lovely. one of my favorites all year, and that's saying something. it makes me cry. i'd love to hear a more flushed out version of this some day. the lyrics are really excellent, especially subtleties like how, "of our life" is left off the last stanza. the use of "chlorophl" and "deciduous" is almost like a branding, something only you would do, i think, but that's what makes them so marvelous. this song is a keeper, it'd be at home in one of those big anthology books of folk music. 		+	Thanks for the comments! Yeah, I'm surprised how nice one turned out. This is an example of a song I wouldn't have written if I didn't feel like I had to sit down and write a song right then. I wasn't very excited about the melody or words until i finished and listened to the completed song. I think it could still be improved a bit. "the days grow long, our roots grow strong" seems a little simple to me, and same with the "cold/old" line. I'm sure the song will evolve a bit as I play it more. I'm also not sure about the instrumental section. Not sure about it's length and where it should go in the song. I'm sure that will change as I mess with it a bit more. But I agree.
