california wireless flowers

neither driving nor california

Lyrics

the signs we pass by, i read them aloud
"california wireless flowers"
a streak of neon against dark windows
it's not so interesting, it's just... you know

the pauses in our conversation
filled with red lights and blinking signals
the one way streets that turn you around
i'm always lost when my feet aren't on the ground

it's a road that you know
you've been this way before
i'm just a passenger
you're driving me home

talking nothing or the weather
you're shifting slowly, nothing better
to take your time up than taking me here
losing focus, suddenly it's clear

this is my stop; still you linger
our intentions become much clearer
we laugh about california
it's a nice pause, but it's not ours

Author's Notes

i thought it might be nice to write a song about uncertainty about where things are going. also, tonight on the way back from dropping someone off at the oakland airport, i saw a sign in the window of a giant wells fargo saying "california wireless flowers" and thought it might be nice to write a song about that too.

this is the laziest recording ever made, just the "us rock" yamaha beat and one piano track, and two vocal takes with some accidental harmonies, hell of reverb, and absolutely no dynamics. hehehe!

advice on how to make this better structrually/lyrically/melodically = welcome.
