staying late at work on a friday night eat a banana for dinner call it a day. surf the internet until you fall asleep at your desk listen in headphones to the happy mix you made read about the things you used to do on the internet. you used to be so cool how did it turn out that now you're working late again on friday of all nights? you take a break to think about all the things you'd say if saturday were the last day ever drinking diet coke and thinking about going home and changing the strings on the acoustic guitar but not doing it you'd only play the only chords you know in various successions with varying degrees of success. you don't care you've given up on love songs for now you could go out, paint the town red you would dress to kill and stop their hearts dead but you could really get something done since you're the only one still there sometimes it's easier to work through it to forget about it and after a while you don't even notice when the week ends at home the kitchen table has been painted red and the walls are hung with waiting paper but if you have the time you just mine old lyrics you've got nothing new to say when you get bored you write some email to people you don't really know anymore and ask them how's life? how's grad school? do you ever hear from, oh dear, what's his name? oh you could go out and paint the town red your smile would slay a thousand happy men but you could really get something done uninterrupted by anyone sometimes it's easier to work through it to forget all about it and after a while you don't even notice when the week ends sometimes it's the easiest thing to do and i should know i'm working so hard to forget about you, too

good lord. i guess i meant this to be funny but on the whole it's rather sad instead. however, we have a capo! hurrah! this means i don't know what the chords are though.
