consider the necessity

Lyrics

consider the
necessity
of miscellaneous
amenities

and absolutes
from partisans
which cultivate
exclusivity

please don't pretend
to make sense of it

deliberate
bring scrutiny
miscalculate
with certainty

please don't pretend
to make sense of it
when its bullshit

accountability
transparency
ingenuity
prosperity

please don't pretend
to make sense of it

Songwriter Notes

i ripped the verse chords off from "Help!" in the chorus i was trying to sort out how to use the 4-minor and flat7 again like i did in sea horses, i was surprised that the Eflat seemed a good way to get back to the G, not sure why that's the case, but it sounded ok to me. for the bridge i just have a vii dim and then the IV back to the I. for the first three verses i used words from my new favorite iphone app: the automatic haiku generator. the last verse i made up my self. at first i meant the chorus to refer to the nonsense words that were generated by the haiku program, but then as the song progressed it seemed to be about politicians, ideologues, and platitudes. so i went with that. there are two acoustic guitar parts: one fingerpicking part with a leslie speaker effect on it, and another acoustic guitar that's going through distortion and tremolo. also some bell things. midi is just way too much fun, the sounds aren't the greatest, but i love the way you can just grab the notes and move them around after you record the track.
