How to have better luck
Lyrics
stick to your guns and it'll work out, and if it backfires you're still alive. roll up your sleeves and it'll turn out you're working too hard just to survive. turn out the lights and it'll be clear and if it's just dark at least you're well rested. close the door and then you'll be safe but if you're still scared, better luck next time. better luck next time. pull yourself up where you can peek out and if you fall back remember the climb. go with your gut til you get somewhere and if you get lost seek what you find. and better luck next time.
Music
Chords
b major, possibly.
Structure
a-a-a-a-b-a-a-b
Author's Notes
this song was recorded using my camcorder's internal mic and wav recording capability. this song uses a lot of cliches and is basically the same chords as the passerines song "young." nonetheless it seems kind of effective. i will probably re-record it.

sara, i wrote this to you in an email back on 8/21:
"i really like the five chord verse, it will lend itself to cool drum beats. and keeps the listener on their toes without really knowing why. i also like the abruptness of the refrain, and the way the pace of the changes slows down for it. it seems to me that you could improve the momentum of the chorus if, rather than simply holding out that second chord all eight beats, you put in a diminished chord for the last two beats, and then the second half of the chorus will feel like it's really doing something important.
this might be my favorite of the camcorder demos. the verse melody is really wonderful."
does my request for a diminished chord on the third and fourth beats of the fourth measure of the refrain make sense?
