I Don't Know Chicago
Lyrics
You were every dream of mine from the time I was old enough to know where I wasn't.
Fought my share into your square old heart, did everything you asked me to do.
Inside you were ugly and cold, split and bored, violent and old.
I just loved the warm lost souls you grasp in your icy hold.
I don't know, Chicago. I don't really miss you.
Particles driven into your eyes, ice and bikes, the chill on your thighs, waves rolling into collapsed loops of sound.
Brick walls wrap you all around, leaning in at the top like a crown, postered feathers tumbling into dust.
Pull the wool over hands and feet, stomping to stay warm to a beat, I like to think the writing on the wall.
Up all night to play a basement, beauty in abandoned places, was around a long time after you were gone, documenting how it goes.
I don't know, Chicago. I don't really miss you. I don't think I ever loved you, but I never could resist you.
But now we're done, Chicago. I don't mind and I don't miss you. Do you mind if I forget you? Well, I don't mind if I do.

Songwriter Notes
i spent a bunch of time tonight "recording" bits of songs i've been working on, before realizing i don't know how to make a mac record from line in so i was just recording the sound of the keys being pressed down. this was slightly better so here it is. :)
i think this song is kind of stupid. but maybe the weird chord sets together might be something nice with different lyrics.
