Lyrics

Lord, an orphan born, a god begot not made. Lord have mercy.
Lord, in your engine spins a black and oily heart. Lord have mercy.
Lord, through you all things are made and they fall apart. Lord have mercy.

Christ, remind me how you died sometimes I can’t recall. Christ have mercy.
Christ, three times I have denied that I admire your life. Christ have mercy.
Christ, your sacrifice of grace, betrayals, and violent crimes. Christ have mercy.

Lord, once more a mortal fears a virus or a war. Lord have mercy.
Lord, your fiery sword appears and knows the hearts of all. Lord have mercy.
Lord, console this sorrowed soul. Son and Holy Ghost and Lord have mercy.

Lord have mercy on me.

Lord have mercy.

Chords

not sure

Gabe's first guess

it sounds to me like you're playing mainly two strings, so i'm making some leaps here by assuming full chords that may or may not be what you had in mind. the harmonic ambiguity is one of the things that makes it wonderful, so i'm sorry if trying to nail it down wrings all the mystery out of it. but that's all i know how to do.

f# E d#0
E D A/C# D
D E7 A

(last time)
D d#0 D d#0
D E7 f07
f# [D E7, suspensions]
A

Gabemcelwain 07:21, 7 February 2008 (PST) sez: Wow! This is great! Thanks, Conor. I can't wait to try this out. P.S. I had a dream last night in which some guy I didn't know started playing "Carolina Cream" sitting on a table in some kind of backstage kitchen. I was so pleased he'd heard of it.
