Songwriter Notes
this song was written after a conversation with Jenny at Lizzy and Chris's wedding. Jenny said that she and MK sometimes sing after dinner.

I don't know which I love more: 1. that Jenny and MK sing after dinner, 2. that you guys wrote this for them to sing or 3. that they'll probably actually sing it together. Outstanding. Songs for real-life situations are really marvelous, and I think we need more of them. OK Go actually dabbled in that field kind of as a joke: http://www.truthinmusic.net/
Also, and this can only be a good thing, this song reminds me of "Away In A Manger".

Yeah, actually, I'm working on a song to sing before dinner. Sort of like a prayer, but not a prayer. I'm struggling to find a melody that is very singable at the dinner table where you probably won't have a guitar. That was something I was shooting for with this song. Glad it reminds you of a xmas carol. I think that means it's "singable". The song before dinner begins like this right now...
may i remember to taste my food may i remember to chew may my napkin be fortuitously placed may tonight the knife aim true and though we are hungry let us still eat slowly and notice each moment occur may my napkin be fortuitously placed may tonight, our knives aim true and though we are tierd let us still listen and pay attention for this is all that we have this food, this room, and the people within it lets remember and always give thanks Out Takes may i retire my phone and extinguish the computers which glow may these potatoes and cabbage be free of contaminants may it make me healthy and strong
