Lyrics

and now a pair we make
love and do partake
of the thrills of nuptials
upon our wedding day

so lets bind our hands with rings
lets tie our hearts with strings
and were they tuned and made to sway
oh i know they chord they'd play

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Songwriter Notes

wrote this song today. i turned in 31 poems yesterday for Philadelphia's fun-a-day. I'm excited to get back into song writing again. I'm thinking about trying to write a song a day for the next couple weeks. kind of crazy, but after doing a poem a day for a month, I think that I might be able to do it.

I'm beginning to like this song more. I like the 5(guitar) against 4(drums) rhythm now. Originally I was worried it would either be incomprehensible or gimmicky. Now it sounds natural and lyrical. Maybe I just got used to it. I also like the way that first verse falls across the line breaks. It has tight internal rhymes, but logically is a bit disorienting until you get to the end of the sentence. That creates a nice tension, and mirrors what's going on with the rhythm. I think it could be rewritten all in 3rd person, that might create a nice ambiguity in the last couple lines. It wouldn't be clear whether the strings or the people are swaying.
